Borrowing from a Luke quote in the New Testament of The Bible, U.S. President John F. Kennedy once famously said over 50 years ago, "To those whom much is given, much is expected."

The only people I can think of beyond JFK who ever publicly said as much are FDR, LBJ, Bill Gates and Warren Buffet. And not just with words or platitudes, but with their personal actions and good deeds for ALL of America and its people!

Whatever happened to this idea or concept? Have we, who are fortunate enough to be doing well while so many other people are going down, become so selfish, judgmental, and political as to forsake "the least of our brethren" and those middle class Americans who never imagined being among them?

From the likes of Jerry and commentators such as Michael Chaney, Laurie Giliberti, and Joel Harris (a real toad), I fear the answer is a very sad, YES. Bill Crandall
