Trick or Treat
October 22, 2013 | 10:17 PM

When I was a little kid so many years ago, there were hundreds of us in the local streets ringing doorbells and knocking on doors for Halloween treats. Neighbors willingly opened their doors and greeted us with smiles every time. Sometimes, later into the night, we'd "egg" a house that stiffed us, and they got the message for next year.

Today people hear a knock on their door; say "Who is it?"; and pray that it's not a kid with a .45
