Great American Seafood Cook-Off

Executive Chef Doug Gulija of The Plaza Cafe has been selected to represent New York State in the Third Annual Great American Seafood Cook-off in New Orleans on August 6. Gulija graduated from Johnson & Wales College in 1986 with a B.S. in Food Service Management and an A.S. in Culinary Arts. He and his wife Andrea opened The Plaza Cafe in Southampton in 1997.

ďI am truly honored to represent the great state of New York in this competition and hope to make the state proud for selecting me,Ē Gulija said.

Wild Wine Wednesdays

All wines on Pacific Eastís wine list will be available at a 25% discount on Wednesday nights throughout the summer. Pacific Eastís Restaurant and Sushi Bar has won national acclaim for chef Michael Castinoís innovative Pan-Asian fare. The restaurant is open Sunday through Thursday from 5:30 to 11 p.m. and on Friday and Saturday from 5:30 p.m. to 12 a.m. The Plaza Cafe, 415 Main St., Amagansett, 267-7770.

Watercolors At Michaelís

Artist Gene Samuelsonís watercolors on display until Labor Day at Michaelís Restaurant at Maidstone Beach. An Amagansett resident, Samuelson works in pen and ink as well as watercolor, and his carefully observed drawings highlight the areaís homes, gardens, streetscapes and beach vistas. Michaelís displays the work of various local artists.
