ASPCA

ASPCA (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) hosts an adoption event for local rescued animals at the 38th Annual Hampton Classic Horse Show through Sunday. For more information on the Hampton Classic, please visit www.aspca.org.

Rock Around The Clock

Rock Around The Clock Benefit Dance with DJ Louis del Prete will take place at Riverhead Polish Hall on Friday from 8 PM to midnight. The evening benefits the Hamptons Dancers AARP Community Group, which provides free or low cost dance, movement and wellness programs for seniors, those with HIV/AIDS, Parkinson’s and other chronic illnesses. Box Art Auction

More than 75 of the finest artists on Long Island’s East End have again created memorable art boxes for an auction benefiting the East End Hospice. The 13th Annual Box Art Auction will take place on September 7 at the Ross School Center for Well-Being on Goodfriend Drive in East Hampton.

The silent auction will begin at 4:30 PM with a live auction at 6 PM. All proceeds will benefit East End Hospice, which provides care for terminally ill patients, their families and loved ones living on the North and South Forks of Long Island, including the Eastern Suffolk County townships of Brookhaven. The Box Art Auction is East End Hospice’s only summer event in East Hampton.

Admission to the September 7 benefit auction is $75, which includes wine and hors d’oeuvres.

The public is invited to a free preview “Meet the Artists” reception at Hoie Hall at St. Luke’s Church in East Hampton (18 James Lane) tonight from 5 to 7 PM. Prior to the auction, the boxes will be on view at Hoie Hall on tonight and tomorrow from 10 AM to 4 PM.

Late Summer Cocktail Party

Southampton Historical Museum and Research Center present a Late Summer Cocktail Party at the Rogers Mansion on September 7 from 5:30 to 7:30 PM. This twilight party is sponsored by Marge Sullivan and Peter Hallock. Feast on hors d’oeuvres by Schmidt’s Market and drink from an open bar to celebrate the end of summer on the lawn of the 1843 Rogers Mansion. $50 members, $60 non-members. To RSVP call 631-283-2494.

Dominican Sisters Golf

Dominican Sisters Family Health Service is having its 12th annual Benefit Golf Outing on September 9 at the Atlantic Country Club in Bridgehampton. The program begins at 10 AM with registration and brunch. Noon shotgun start.  At 5 PM there will be an awards reception with food and drinks, Jet Blue challenge grand prize drawing and $10,000 Cash raffle drawing, raffle prizes and hole-in-one contest.

North Fork Garden

The Longhouse presents a North Fork Garden Tour on September 12 at the home of Dennis Schrader and Bill Smith and a winery tour of the Shinn Estate Vineyards. The cost is $75 and $60 for Longhouse members. For tickets call Joanne Sohn 631-329-3568.

Montauk Food Pantry

On September 15 Montauk residents Leyla Marchetto and Sheila Rooney, together with the help of Maureen Rutkowski and Montauk Youth, are hosting the second annual 5K around Fort Pond to benefit the Montauk Food Pantry. Registration for this year’s event will open at 7:30 AM (rain or shine) with a start time of 8:30 AM, at the Gazebo on the Green in downtown Montauk. Adults and children of all ages are welcome, as are strollers, scooters and leashed dogs. Suggested participation donations are $20 for adults and $10 for children under 12. The organizers will also be accepting non-perishable food item donations for the food pantry during the event. Prizes will be awarded to the first, second, and third place finishers, and there will also be a door prize for one lucky participant.
