Bay Street Theatre presents its final production of the 2013 Mainstage Season with A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, running through September 1. This absolutely hilarious comedy stars Peter Scolari with Conrad John Schuck and Jackie Hoffman.

The book is by Burt Shevelove and Larry Gelbart with lyrics and music by Stephen Sondheim, music direction by Ethyl Will, and directed and choreographed by Marcia Milgrom Dodge.

A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum is a musical inspired by the farces of the ancient Roman playwright Plautus, specifically Pseudolus, Miles Gloriosus and Mostellaria. The musical tells the bawdy story of a slave named Pseudolus and his attempts to win his freedom by helping his young master woo the girl next door. Throughout the entire performance the audience could not stop laughing. Seeing the production in such an intimate setting as Bay Street Theatre just added to the audience's enjoyment.

Peter Scolari who gives a stellar performance, has Broadway credits with roles in shows like Hairspray, Sly Fox and Lucky Guy with Tom Hanks. Scolari is now cast on the new hit show “Girls” on HBO.

Tickets are $67.50, $77.50 and $79.50. For more information call the Box Office at 631-725-9500 or buy online at
