Plein Air Peconic

Plein Air Peconic, the artist group dedicated to helping the Peconic Land Trust conserve the natural beauty of the East End, presents “Art in the Open,” an exhibition and sale of landscape paintings and photographs at Ashawagh Hall in Springs this weekend. “Artist & Writers: The Played In The Game” panel discussion will take place at Guild Hall on Sunday from 11 AM to 12:30 PM. Herman N. Hyneman

The Southold Historical Society will host an exhibition of paintings by noted 19th century New York City painter Herman N. Hyneman (1849-1907). The exhibit, entitled “Herman N. Hyneman: A Jewish Artist Rediscovered,” will be on display in the Cosden-Price Gallery in the Society’s Reichert Family Center in Southold from Saturday through September 21.


Alice Aycock

The Drawing Room in East Hampton presents Alice Aycock, works on paper. The show will be on view through August 12.

Art On The Edge

Art On The Edge 2013, an annual survey of New Contemporary art featuring the most provocative new paintings, sculptors and photographers working in their respective mediums, opens at Vered Gallery in East Hampton. The exhibit continues through August 5.

Halsey Mckay Gallery

The Halsey Mckay Gallery in East Hampton presents Patrick Brennan and Brie Ruais. The show runs through July 31.

Pritam & Eames

Pritam & Eames in East Hampton introduces Aubrey Grainger’s newest oil painting, “Glimpse of Scallop Pond,” as part of its Art at Home series that runs through September 15. Other artists represented in the gallery’s Art at Home series include Jennifer Alnwick, Linda Capello and Karen Kluglein. Also on exhibit as part of the gallery’s 33rd Anniversary Show is a selection of American studio furniture including new pieces by Aled Lewis, David Ebner, Noel and Janene Hilliard, and Duncan Gowdy.

Holland B. Cunningham

Recent work by Holland B. Cunningham, an American artist who works in oil, water-based media, photography as well as animation, will exhibit at Art Gallery at the Quogue Library. The show is on display today through July 29. An artists reception takes place from 4 to 6 PM on July 13.

East Hampton’s beloved Artists & Writers Softball Game will take to the field for its 65th annual game on August 17. In celebration, the Museum at Guild Hall opens “Artists & Writers: They Played in the Game.” The exhibition features many works from Guild Hall’s permanent collection of artists who have played in the game, along with works that are on loan.
