Jerry's Ink

TO THE VAST MAJORITY OF MY GOOD FRIENDS WHO ARE DEMOCRATS AND/OR LIBERALS

All of you think you're much smarter than I am.

Many of you are right.

You see me as a dumb-but-happy Republican who was too stupid to vote for the great Barack Obama even once.

You see me as being cruel, heartless and mistaken in my opposition to ObamaCare because I foolishly felt it would destroy healthcare in the United States.

I apologize.

I'm told by the media (MSNBC) that ObamaCare, after a few glitches, is now working extremely well and just a teeny tiny sprinkling of people in the United States are getting less coverage and paying more for their health insurance.

I'm sure none of you, my smart Democrat/Liberal friends, are among them and you still have kept the doctor you like, as in, "If you like your doctor you can keep your doctor."

And the good news is those smart Democrat friends who are paying much more for their health insurance and getting far less coverage can rejoice that somewhere in Kentucky there is a man who has been unemployed for two years is now on a waiting list and in just eight months he will have his much-needed hernia operation.

I was told that Obama's successful foreign policy was going into high gear and his speech to the graduating class at West Point was going to be a gem.

How clever of Obama to choose West Point, thereby insuring that he was speaking to the only 1,064 graduates in the United States in 2014 who are sure of having a job after they graduate.

Since many of you are smarter than I am, there are things about the speech that I don't understand.

Are we no longer leading from behind?

Can a country lead from the middle?

Would you believe just slightly behind the front?

Speaking of the Obama West Point speech, what's happened to the beloved New York Times?

Did the editors lose their minds when they dumped the lovely Jill Abramson as executive editor?

Have they turned the wonderful bleeding heart "We love everyone but Israel" newspaper of record into a conservative, neo-Nazi, fascist bastards' newspaper?

Yes children, the New York Times criticized the great Barack Obama for the first time since he left community organizing and trounced Hillary Clinton for the Democratic presidential nomination with the help of all you good Democrats/Liberals.

In an editorial about the West Point speech the New York Times said hurtful things about Obama like:

"He provided little new insight into how he plans to lead in the next two years, and many still doubt that he fully appreciates the leverage the United States has even in a changing world. Falling back on hackneyed phrases like America is the 'indispensable nation' told us little.

"Mr. Obama's comments on China and Russia barely touched on how he plans to manage two major countries that have turned increasingly aggressive. Pledging anew to close the jail at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, which Congress has blocked, was, at this point, little more than a reassuring gesture.

"The address did not match the hype, was largely uninspiring, lacked strategic sweep and is unlikely to quiet his detractors, on the right or the left."

Now wait a minute here. I know I speak for all my Democrat/Liberal friends when I say STOP.

You can say Barack Obama has been a worse president than Jimmy Carter, who up until now was our worst president.

You can say that the United States has lost its world leadership position because of Barack Obama's namby-pamby policies.

You can cite Benghazi, the unemployment of millions, a stalled economy, Syria, Putin, China . . .

You can talk about his releasing five of the world's most dangerous terrorists for the return of Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, who appears ready to star in next season's run of "Homeland."

But NEVER . . . NEVER . . . NEVER . . . criticize the way Barack Obama makes a speech.

The man (and I'm sure many of my wise Democrat friends will agree) is the greatest speechmaker in our nation's history.

He has mastered the ability to look into a camera and lie to the American people in a beautiful, deep, reassuring voice.

But perhaps it's the dumb Republican side of me that is using the word "lie."

Perhaps he is the most honest man in the world who just doesn't have a clue.

I call on my wise Democrat/Liberal friends for a decision.

OBAMA: LIAR OR CLUELESS?

How about G.H.W. Bush's "No new taxes" promise? Or his idiot son (with a Havard MBA) who proclaimed "Mission Accomplished", and still can't pronounce the word nuclear correctly. Yes, Obama seems too clever by half to me and I don't like it. And if he's lied about anything, it's got to be about his commitment to creating jobs, where he clearly has failed miserably. But let's be consistent in our criticism. Nixon had Watergate. Carter had odd/even day gas lines. Reagan had Iran-Contra. Is there something new going on here that I'm missing? Bill Crandall

franklin pierce was the worst president. Bush was the worst in my lifetime.
You can say that the united states has lost its world leadership position, but that doesn't make it true.
You can cite millions of unemployed and a stalled economy, but then you have to remember when the economy hit the fan and who was president at the time. Then you also have to remember who voted against the jobs act that was supposed to fix it.
Maybe obamacare would have worked better with a public option?

To Jimmy ... Thanks so much for your obviously informed opinion on U.S. Presidential history. Franklin Pierce was pretty bad, but thought you might have said James Buchanan, Warren Harding or Millard Fillmore. Still, according to U.S. News & World Report's latest rankings of the worst presidents, you weren't far off. Pierce came in 4th. I personally pick Nixon as worst (made the top-ten), because he unilaterally tried to centralize the entire U.S. Government under the Executive branch; secretly ordered our troops serving in Vietnam into Laos and Cambodia; blew off Kent State; wrecked a lot of lives; and ultimately lied about everything!

To Peter Martini ... Please learn how to spell Syria and Egypt before offering any more of your obviously ignorant opinions. Bill Crandall

    Obama: Liar or Clueless
    June 25, 2014 | 02:59 PM

It is hard to imagine a president who is more "liberal" with his idea of the truth. I can recount all of the same things that Jerry said in his article, and much, much more starting with how he got elected with all of the questionable tactics; to the voting blocks he attracted who never came out to vote before; to the promises he made which promised to keep those on the welfare roles happy. The list goes on and on. He is slowly (really quickly) further bankrupting this country with his immigration policy laxness. Really -- what about those who stand in line with a high degree of regard to our laws? And, is he ever going to stop expanding government. Our national deficit keeps going up and up exponentially. But my question is, "Is he smart enough to do all of these things on his OWN, or does he surround himself with paid liars." Me thinks a bit of both! As for Bill Crandall, grow up and smell the roses. (In this case the weeds!! You must be more than pretty naive.)
