Martin Scorsese`s Mean Streets at Guild Hall 2/27/10
By Patty Bak
This past Saturday night Guild Hall in East Hampton presented a film screening of a film made by Martin Scorsese called Mean Streets. The event was followed by a discussion between actor Alec Baldwin and programming director of the Hamptons International Film Festival, David Nugent.
Baldwin and Nugent had a discussion about the way Scorsese`s films are made. In Mean Streets he shows a parallel universe between the life of the main character Charly played by Harvey Keitel, and his religious conflicts.
Baldwin and Nugent mentioned that Scorsese's films present stories about ordinary life and that`s what makes him known and why he is still a name in the film business.
One of the latest films directed by Scorsese, Shutter Island is on screen now.
