William Jones died on December 10 in Greenport.

Mr. Jones was born on October 1, 1934 to Timothy Jones and Rosella Flippen in Calverton, where he later attended school.

He was known as the bus driver with the “Big Red Suspenders” with Sunrise Bus Company, where he worked for 10 years. He enjoyed fishing, working on cars and listening to the blues.

Mr. Jones leaves to mourn his loving wife, Pearl S. Brooks-Jones; loving stepmother, Clara Jones of Inglewood, New Jersey; mother-in-law, Rosa Waller of Greenport; three daughters and son-in-laws, Rose and Courtney Jones of Riverhead, Elsie and Aaron Phelps of Suffolk, Virginia, and Laverne and Will Bryant of Buffalo, New York; three step-children, Sylvia Smith and Howard Brooks of Greenport and Cheryl Rock of Hanahan, South Carolina; a brother, Timothy Jones of Inglewood, New Jersey; three sisters, Barbara Lewis of Teaneck, New Jersey, Doreen Milton of Acworth, Georgia, Donna Montgomery of Hackensack, New Jersey; a sister-in-law, Maxine Jones of Calverton; two brothers-in-law, Earl Waller of Newark, New Jersey, and George K. Waller of San Diego, California; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends and a host of children who loved him as a father.

He was predeceased by two children in 1963, four brothers, James, Floyd, Theodore Jones and Joseph Booker, Sr., and a sister, Roselle Jones-Moore.

The family received friends at the DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Homes in Southold. Home going services were held at the First Baptist Church in Cutchogue by Reverend Cornelius Fulford. Interment was at the Willow Hill Cemetery in Southold
