Joseph S Boivin

Age: 82
Joseph S. Boivin of Southold died at Eastern Long Island Hospital in Greenport November 28 after a six-month battle with liver cancer.

Mr. Boivin was born in Brooklyn, New York, on September 21, 1924 to Elizabeth (nee Mauz) and Joseph Rosario Boivin. He attended Rahway Public Schools in Rahway, New Jersey and served in the 3rd Marine Division during World War II.

For 15 years, Mr. Boivin was a truck driver for Channel Home Centers and a member of the Teamsters Union. He was also a member of the Findern Fire Department in Findern, New Jersey, the Veterans of Foreign War in Old Bridge, New Jersey, and the Elks Club.

Mr. Boivin is survived by his son, Jonathan, and daughter-in-law, Susan, of Southold, and son Joseph, and daughter-in-law Maritza, of Trenton, New Jersey; two brothers, Alfred and Richard Boivin, both of Peoria, Arizona; and two grandchildren, Jacob Boivin of Southold and Victoria Boivin of Trenton, New Jersey. He was pre-deceased by his sister, Charlotte Aquila, of Columbus, New Jersey.

The family welcomed friends December 4 at the DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Homes in Southold where religious services were held by Reverend Garret Johnson of St. Peterís Lutheran Church in Greenport.
