Obituaries

Philemon T. Dickerson

Died: Friday, October 27, 2006
Age: 69
Philemon T. Dickerson, a life-long resident of Southold Town, died last Friday at Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead.

Mr. Dickerson was born in Greenport on March 4, 1937 to G. Carleton and Lizbeth (neé Vail) Dickerson. He was a graduate of the Mattituck High School Class of 1955 and later served in the U.S. Navy for four years. On May 28, 1961 he married the former Barbara Kruszeski at St. Isidore’s Roman Catholic Church in Riverhead. For many years, Mr. Dickerson was a potato farmer; he later worked for Grumman.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara; his children, Kevin of Calverton, Deborah Rohla of Spring, Texas, Diane Kokes of Redondo Beach, California and David of Southold; three brothers, George, Gerard and Allan; and seven grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister Edith Charkow.

The family received friends on Sunday at the DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Mattituck where vigil prayers were recited by Sister Anne Lynch of Sacred Heart Parish. The Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday at Our Lady of Good Counsel Roman Catholic Church by Father Peter A. Allen.

Interment, with military honors, was at the Calverton National Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Mattituck Fire Department Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 136, Mattituck, NY 11952
