Steve J. Doroski

Age: 90
Steve J. Doroski, a life-long resident of the North Fork, died on September 27 at Eastern Long Island Hospital in Greenport.

Mr. Doroski was born on August 3, 1916 in Cutchogue to Victoria and Antone Doroski. He was a long-time farmer in Southold and the owner of Steve J. Doroski Produce, Inc., which shipped potatoes and vegetables all up and down the East Coast. Mr. Doroski and his wife Frances were the founders and owners of Doroski Nursery, Inc. for more than 65 years.

Mr. Doroski was also very active in a local organization that sponsored the travel of displaced persons to the U.S. in the years after World War II. He had a passion for golf and was an avid golfer into his eighties. He was the 16-time club champion at the North Fork Country Club in Cutchogue and a six-time club champion at Islands End Golf and Country Club in Greenport. Mr. Doroski was also a 58-year member of the Southold Fire Department.

He was a wonderful, devoted husband, father, great-grandfather, and has left a wonderful legacy of memories to his family. He was a good friend to all and will surely be missed. Mr. Doroski is survived by his daughters, Barbara Szczotka of Peconic and Joan Jenkins of Cutchogue; a brother, Anthony Doroski of Cutchogue; a sister, Agnes Chanko of New Britain, Ct.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The Liturgy of the Christian Burial was celebrated on September 30 at St. Patrickís R.C. Church in Southold. Interment was at the Sacred Heart R.C. Cemetery in Cutchogue. Memorial donations may be made to the Southold Fire Department, East End Hospice or the Parkinsonís Foundation.
