Ida A. Newbold of Southold died at her home on the afternoon of September 21.
Mrs. Newbold was born in Roosevelt, New York, one of 13 children, to Harvey and Virginia Williams. She was a graduate of Riverhead High School and for 75 years was a resident of Southold. For many years, she worked as a secretary for Goldsmith and Tuthill Lumberyard and Arthur Gagen Insurance Agency.
Mrs. Newbold was a member of the Southold United Methodist Church and a past-president of the Rebekah’s.
She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Newbold in 1970; she is survived by a son, Dudley; a daughter, Meryle; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Grace, Evelyn and Doris and four brothers, Kenneth, Sidney, Mulford and Larry. She was predeceased by five siblings.
The family received friends on Monday at the DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Southold. Funeral services were held yesterday at the Southold United Methodist Church by Reverend Lorraine DeArmitt. Interment was at the Cutchogue Cemetery.
