William E. Becker, of Montauk, died June 20 at the Southampton Hospital.
He was born on January 31, 1923 to William and Dorothy Becker in East Williston, N.Y.
Becker was a member of Formerly Friends of Erin, Montauk Lions Club, Montauk Horse Show Committee, Republican Club and VFW 5253.
He served in WWII in the Navy from December 1942 to December 1945. He took part in D-Day and landed at Utah Beach.
He is survived by his wife Margaret Becker; sons William Becker Jr. of Springs and Richard Becker of Montauk; daughters Eileen Brownlow of Virginia Beach and Mary Margaret McCaffrey of Wainscott; and sisters Rita Beneke of Hawley, P.A., Elizabeth Kronimus of Southampton, Anna Phillips of Sag Harbor, and Doris Trembley of Florida. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister Dorothy Poplawski.
Funeral services were held June 22 at Yardley and Pino Funeral Home in East Hampton. Donations can be made to the Montauk Fire Ambulance Department.
