Alan E. Tonnesen

Died: Monday, May 22, 2006
Age: 87
Edna R. Tonnesen, a resident of Mattituck, died on May 22 at the Peconic Bay Medical Center.

She was born in Brooklyn on August 18, 1918 to Eilert Tonnesen and Eleanore Janessen. Miss Tonnesen was a teacher in the New York City public school system, and she also taught for two years in the Overseas Air Force Dependent School, in Morocco and Japan. While teaching in Brooklyn she sang in the Trinity Lutheran Church Choir and taught Sunday school. She was a member of the Mattituck Presbyterian Church and taught Sunday school when she first retired.

Miss Tonnesen was predeceased by her two sisters, Eleanor Goddard and Margaret Mohns, and her two brothers, John Edward Tonnesen and

There will be a memorial service at Mattituck Presbyterian Church at a later date. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Reginald H. Tuthill Funeral Home in Riverhead.
