Age: 57
Douglas Beverly, of Sag Harbor, died at John Mather Memorial Hospital on April 30.

He was born in Brooklyn on January 11, 1949 to Hazel (nee Murphy) and Walter Beverly Jr. A graduate of Mineola High School, Mr. Beverly later entered the Police Academy and completed fire training. Very much involved in the community, he was a police officer, a village mechanic, worked in the village highway department, was the sewer treatment plant operator, and worked as the village harbormaster.

Mr. Beverly was a member of the Sag Harbor Fire Department, the Peconic Fire Chiefs Association, the Southampton Fire Chiefs Council, and the Sag Harbor Firemenís Benevolent Association. He taught the Boaterís Safety Course and served as the Suffolk County Fire Coordinator.

Mr. Beverly is survived by his wife Carol; his daughters, Karen and Suzanne Bennett of Sag Harbor; his brothers, Walter Beverly III of Rome, NY, and Ronald Beverly of McKinney, Texas; and four grandchildren, Alexia, Bruce, Beaud, and MacKenzie.

A funeral service was held last Thursday at St. Andrews in Sag Harbor. Interment was in St. Andrewís Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Sag Harbor Volunteer Exempt Firemenís Benevolent Association.
