Charles Morrissey

Died: Sunday, April 23, 2006
Age: 74
Charles Robert (Bob) Morrissey, of Southold, died at home on April 23 after a long battle with cancer.

He was born on January 16, 1932 in Manhattan to Raymond and Ernestine (nee Schoener) Morrissey. He served in the Army from 1955 to 1958 and was stationed at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. He retired in 1995 from New York Decorating Company, a family business that was started by his grandfather and is now led by his son, Brian.

Mr. Morrissey was a member of the Marian Council of the Knights of Columbus, the Griswold Terry Glover Post #803 of the American Legion, the Seventh Regiment Armory, and was a past president of the Long Island City Lions Club and the past Commodore of the Bayside Yacht Club.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Eileen (nee Sweeney); his sons, Brian, Kevin, and Stephen; and three grandchildren, Robert, Glenna, and Amelia.

The Liturgy of the Christian Burial was celebrated last Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church in Southold. Interment, with military honors, was in St. Patrick’s R.C. Cemetery in Southold.
