I have to respond to a letter I read in "The Other Paper" last week written by Richard Lawless that criticizes Plitt Ford. I couldn't believe what I was reading. I have had the total opposite experience in all my dealings with this fine local business.
For the record, I have purchased at least 10 autos, trucks and vans over the last 20 years from Bob and Jeffrey Plitt. I have always been treated with respect and the product has always lived up to my high expectations. I find it comforting to be able to walk into a local business, first when Plitt was located at what's now the East Hampton CVS property and then its Wainscott auto dealership, and still be greeted by one of the owners. No hiding in their world.
On the rare occasion that maintenance or repair was needed, service manager Frank Ford (yes that's his real name) explained what was needed and what the costs would be — very accurately.
I urge anyone looking for a new or used vehicle to stop in and meet the Plitts. You will be meeting a family that believes in strong local commerce and has always delivered their product with pride.
