My Heroes

Dear Rick,

'Tis the season to be jolly and to love your fellow man. With that in mind I mean to offend no one and certainly not a Mr. Nick Delgado. But hey, Mr. G., hungry for a hero, me? Surely you jest, my friend. My heroes are vast and legend. They are patriots who shed their blood and gave their lives to make us the greatest nation ever.

My heroes fought to insure we would live in freedom and peace. They had the vision and guts to take on the battle wherever. Unfortunately, there are some among us who do not recognize or appreciate the sacrifices of others to keep us free and afford us a great life in America. Freedom comes at a tremendous cost. God bless those who are willing to pay the price.

This nation has become complacent and apathetic taking the good life for granted. Worse yet, we are seeing an America growing increasingly alien to the tenets and beliefs we once held dear and made us strong. It scares the hell out of me. I fear for my loved ones. I want them to share in the same freedoms and opportunities of a united America like those of my generation and those who came before.

The dissention and deep divide in this nation is sad and troublesome. Ben Franklin said it best: "United we stand; divided we fall." Take heed and make no mistake, we are in a war with vicious enemies. They vow to wipe us off the face of the earth. Believe them. We are in a fight for survival; them or us, simple as that. We either band together and defeat these terrorists or our world will cease to exist. My heroes, Pres. George W. Bush and Americas most loved mayor, Rudy Giuliani, will never let that happen. Bet on it! Trust them to keep us safe.

Merry Christmas all and to all a good night.
