Puppy Talk

To the Editor,

As a resident of the North Fork, I make it a habit of patronizing the local businesses, rather than the retail giants, and feel it is our responsibility to see that they survive from year to year.

With that said, the very last thing I want to do is interfere with the success of a small business owner. However, a new business has recently opened its doors and based on some very disturbing facts, many of us feel it should not be welcomed and certainly not patronized.

For those of you that have driven by the Puppy Experience in Aquebogue and given the protestors a thumbs-up toot on your horn, we say thank you. For those of you who have given us less than polite gestures or just driven by wondering what all the "commotion" was about, we ask that you please take the time to educate yourselves regarding where these cute pups in the window come from. And for those of you that are considering buying a puppy from this establishment, buyer beware.

I am sure everyone will agree that there is nothing more adorable than a puppy and all we want to do is bring it home to become a member of our family.

If the information you gather makes you as appalled as we are, please make your voices heard. If you don't know what to do, you can start by joining our peaceful demonstration every Saturday and Sunday starting at 12 noon.

Editor's Note: A portion of this letter has been edited out because it contained allegations that were stated as facts.
