After the late groom-to-be Sean Bell was gunned down in his car hours before his wedding date, I told a friend, "At least this time the police won't be able to claim they fired all those shots because they saw him reach for something and feared for their lives."
I was wrong.
The attorney for the police told the press that the undercover officer who showed his badge to Mr. Bell claimed his passenger reached for his waistband. That was a new one. Oh how those NYC police lie and lie when they are caught violating procedure.
No guns, of course, were found in the car after the two shot passengers in Mr. Bell's car were taken to a hospital and handcuffed to their beds. I didn't know that being shot by a police officer entitled one to be handcuffed.
