Apropos your editorial "Public Security vs. Private Security," do you suppose the NYS investigation has looked into how much unreported cash some of these off-duty officers have received for their "security" work at certain high profile parties?
Glad you mentioned the Puff Daddy party and the off-duty officer who chose to have the ambulance pick up an overdosed or overdrugged guest at Cedar Point, 1.4 miles away from the party. When he was asked why the ambulance didn't come straight to Puff Daddy's, the then off-duty lieutenant gave traffic as the reason. Sure, and his middle name is Ethical, on duty or off.
Your editorial mentioned that the driver was a lieutenant in the EHTPD. There were two lieutenants, at the time, one of whom was determined to rise to the very top, at anyone's expense except his own.
The incident was not reported in the local press because it wasn't included in the usual Monday morning news wrap-up by the department to the media. Why? Because the lieutenant buried it.
