East Hampton football lovers should come out to the High School field on Saturday, October 14 at 9 a.m. to root for Bonac's winning JV Football team, a 4 and 1 record (a one point loss) in their last home game of the season against Sayville.
They are East Hampton's team of the future. Bonac's well coached team — Coaches Peter Deleski and Bill Barbour — is three deep at every position with a combination of speed, strength and size.
Freshmen running backs Bill Collins and Nick Jarboe may remind football fans of SMU's Eric Dickerson, Mr. Outside, and Greg James, Mr. Inside. They compliment each other as does the whole team working together.
I really think that the current JV may bring back a Varsity championship for head coach David MacGarva and his staff. By the way, Bruce McErlean, Joey McKee, Dennis Walker, Sid Fields, David Fiorello and Richard Balnis worked with these boys in fifth grade, starting them off with the needed skills to get them where they are now.
They are a good team that knows how to play football. Do come out Saturday morning and support them in their last home game.
