Full of Energy

To the Editor,

With all the concern these days about energy prices I'm amazed that the government has not funded a massive program to make solar energy more affordable as Pres. Jimmy Carter did.

With the first oil embargo years ago he passed a fifty percent tax credit which helped me and many others buy my solar hot water system. I find great pleasure in showing visitors to my house my eighty five gallon tank of hot water being fed by two solar panels at up to two hundred degrees temperature strictly from the sun. In the summer time my oil burner is completely turned off unless there are three days of rain. In the winter on a sunny day when the temperature outside is in the twenties the water tank is preheated to about one hundred degrees from well water that comes up at fifty degrees.

If this administration would do what Pres. Carter did we could cut our oil consumption drastically. No doubt oil company profits are much of the reason nothing is done. What this country needs is leadership that works for the people and not just corporations.
