A follow-up and thanks to all those who took a moment to call or email their local legislators asking for their support and co-sponsorship of H.R. 503, The American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act which passed overwhelmingly in the House of Representatives on September 7 with a vote of 263 to 146 in favor of banning horse slaughter for human consumption after being presented with facts and images proving that horses should not be subjected to the brutality of the last three foreign-owned slaughterhouses in the U.S. which serve no purpose in our country and whom export all of their profits and the meat overseas.
Despite this huge victory for horses and the tens of thousands of Americans and hundreds of dedicated organizations who voiced their opposition to horse slaughter this legislation has yet to be passed in the Senate being introduced as S.1915 and therefore still needs urgent support. It's the homestretch for horses.
All those interested in helping pass this legislation through its second stage as successfully as the first can reach their respective Senators by calling the Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121 or email them and ask for their co-sponsorship of S. 1915.
