Thanks Pols

To the Editor,

On behalf of the Peconic Bay Medical Center family, we'd like to offer a heartfelt thank-you to all the community members who helped commemorate the start of our major expansion and modernization project by joining us for the July 18 groundbreaking ceremony celebrating the largest expansion project in the history of the hospital.

We've come a long way in a short time, thanks to the generous support we've received from our community. Our good friend State Senator Kenneth LaValle deserves a special thank you for his strong support of our mission to provide the most accessible, advanced healthcare to our communities. We also recognize our Assemblyman, Mark Alessi, and County Legislator Ed Romaine for their unwavering support.

We are especially grateful to our friends in Riverhead Town Hall, Supervisor Phil Cardinale, Town Board members, the planning and building departments, the Architectural Review Board and the Zoning Board of Appeals. Our service area covers several townships and villages and we also wish to thank Southold Supervisor Scott Russell, Southampton Supervisor Skip Heaney, Westhampton Beach Mayor Conrad Teller and Trustee Joan Levan for their support.

Special recognition also goes to the members of the Town Industrial Development Agency, which made our expansion the largest project they have ever undertaken.

Here at PBMC, no one embodies the can-do spirit that has come to define the culture of our hospital and the massive undertaking of this project more than our outstanding Board of Directors, medical staff, employees and volunteers. We could not have done this without them. Furthermore, this project would not be possible without the tremendous ongoing effort of the hospital Foundation Board, led by Jesse Goodale III and Vice Chairs Irwin Garsten and Richard Winslow.

Gordon Huszagh, Vice Chairman on the Hospital Board and Executive Vice President of Suffolk County National Bank, often states that PBMC is our most important community-owned asset. We could not agree more and thank everyone for their ongoing support.

ANDREW MITCHELL and JOSEPH VAN DE WETERING,

President and CEO and Chairman, Board of Directors
