Dumbing Of America

Dear Editor,

At 4 p.m. on 6/3/06 Al Gore spoke on NPR (National Public Radio) about global warming. It was entirely apolitical, pro-global. To hear this articulate, brilliant person speak in reference to the film, An Inconvenient Truth, which has no purpose other than to alert the entire world to the self-destructive path being taken by all of us on this globe, was to hear a voice spouting intelligence not heard from our administration since pre-2000.

To think that this fellow [was] elected by the majority of American voters as the next President of the United States of America in 2000 only to have it illegally overturned by a 5/4 biased Supreme Court brings tears to the eyes. How our country has suffered due to that infringement on the separation of powers of the three equal branches of our country. Now the Executive branch, using its Attorney General and FBI, has raided Congress. But that's another story.

There is another series of elections coming up. We have a chance to change the "No Oversight Congress" of our country during the mid-term election and change the Administration itself in '08. Listening to the quality of a Gore type leader and returning to the dumbing of America rhetoric from the mouth of the present Commander in Chief is jarringly dismal. It may not be Gore, Kerry, Biden, or Hillary or who knows who, but just someone with a brain and one that does not hear voices directing his or her directions (read mis-directions). America can do better. America must do better.

Editor's Note: As luck would have it our Ben interviews the director of the movie in his column "The Good The Bad The Ugly" on page B-5 in this week's Arts and Entertainment section.
