What The People Need
To the Editor,
Enough already yet! Give us a break; The New York Metropolitan Transportation Council is asking the public, once again, to help them plan, and how they should spend nearly $50 million in federal funds for transportation-related issues in our area. Again!?
And we say, once again, stop all the planning, studying, and meetings, and do what the people want and need! It's time to act and get the job done!
The great leader and master builder Robert Moses must be rolling over in his grave waiting for you guys to get of the dime and "Do;" build what's needed:
• Build a new, modern vehicle Cross Long Island Sound Ferry Terminal that's conveniently located to meet growing present and future demand, east of Port Jefferson.
• Create a futuristic light rail transit system, servicing the East End of Long Island, connected to a modern, multi-use transportation hub, near the future "Economic Generator" for Eastern Long Island, in Calverton, Riverhead.
We the people of Eastern Long Island have voiced our concerns and identified the solutions, now it's time to act! No more studies; let's see some results! That's what real Americans are noted for — building and creating our future.
