Thank You

Dear Editor:

I'd like to begin by apologizing for being so late with this public letter of thanks. Being the parent who has been by her son's side day and night caring for him since that horrible night of January 18, 2006, had left me little time, until now.

On the evening of January 18 my youngest son, Kyle, was in a serious auto accident, of which he was not expected to live. He was air lifted to Stony Brook Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery, and remained until he was able to come back home. He has since had several obstacles to over come and still has a few more, but is on the road to a full recovery.

From the bottom of my heart, I would like to thank everyone, family, friends, co-workers, and even strangers, for their thoughts, prayers, kindness, support, phone calls and offers of help, during this most traumatic time of Kyle's and my life, with special mention to the following:

Elyssa Ewing, and her parents, Jody & Susan, for being there with in moments of the accident, staying with Kyle until the emergency personnel arrived. For being by my side when he was wheeled into surgery.

The Southampton Fire Department "Rescue Squad" for extricating my son from the vehicle, many who are either relatives or like family, with a special thanks to Chief Joe Corr for driving me to Stony Brook Hospital that night.

North Sea Fire Department, the Southampton Town and Southampton Village Police Departments, Southampton Town Volunteer Ambulance, Suffolk County Police Dept. Medi-Vac Unit, the entire staff at Stony Brook University Hospital, especially the Trauma and I.C.U. Units, and Dr. Kevin Watkins, Kyle's surgeon. Without the help of all of you, my son would not be here today. I am forever grateful to you all and extremely proud to be a member of this community!

Special thanks also go to my twin sister Melissa Aery and her husband Jim, my brother Richard Essay and his wife Connie, Nathan Osborn, Linda & Frank Mojeski, Tom and Eileen Pierkoski and their daughter Katherine, Keith & Camile Considine and their son Keith, Ken Navan, my parents Al & Virginia Essay, Jackie McKay, Annie Holmes and family, John, Betty & Brieanne Venturella, Mr. & Mrs. Cliff Johnson and family, Guy Marino, Amy Prince and the Southampton High School, Jennifer Petzold, Middle Island Fire Dept., my boss Rev. Peter Devaraj, co-workers and parishioners of St. Andrew R.C. Church in Sag Harbor, Maryann Tupper and John and Randy Feinberg, to mention a few.

Most of all, I want to thank my daughter Christina and son Keith, for being not only by their brother's side, by my side as well, every step of the way. I could not have gotten through this without you!
