Re: Peter Koval letter 3/29/06, lamenting the cut in cancer research funding by this administration as well as its blatant disregard for the general well-being as well as health care coverage for the all Americans; all is not lost. The State of Massachusetts has initiated its own plan to ensure that all its citizens are covered . . . and with a Republican Governor at that.
The wealthy as always, can well afford any medical attention, real or imagined that they require or desire but the middle class and the poor without insurance no longer need using the emergency room with its outrageously exorbitant cost to the state as their source of primary care.
Perhaps indeed the spirit of Hillary Clinton and the goal of universal health coverage is still alive and has not been completely decimated by special interests and their lobbyists together with their "Harry & Louise" shill.
The Editor's Note, "Let's not get too carried away" is of course true, judging by the public's gullibility and propensity to vote against its own best interests, but sooner or later Americans must start to realize what indeed is in their best interest and demand that it be made a reality. It certainly will not be made so by this administration and its party controlled Congress, nor any clone-like administration to follow.
