Grant to Improve Sound Center Services
San Simeon by the Sound Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, a long term care and short term rehab facility in Greenport, is the recipient of a $3.1 million grant for a medical model adult day healthcare program to provide skilled nursing care to individuals in the community wishing to remain at home, and building renovation.
The New York State Department of Health grant includes reduction in the number of beds at the facility in order to meet the current reduced requirements for long-term care beds in the community. The building renovation will include increasing meeting places and bathing areas within the center and reduce costs to the state by offering cost-effective, less restrictive services.
