• The Parrish Art Museum in Southampton hosts vacation week workshops for kids begin with "Painting Your Way through the Seasons." Morning sessions are held from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and afternoon sessions run from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Classes will be divided by age, so that older and younger siblings are able to attend classes at the same time but within their own age group. • The Ladies Village Improvement Society of Sag Harbor presents its 2006 holiday house tour from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The tour includes five houses in the village of Sag Harbor, one in North Haven, the restored home of artists Annie Cooper Boyd and the United Methodist Church. In total, tour takers will visit eight points of interest showcasing both the holiday decorations and Sag Harbor's unique architecture. Tickets are $25 in advance, $30 the day of the tour. • A musical performance by Journeys with Sound at 2 p.m. concludes the Parrish Art Museum's winter school vacation week events. Myriad unique and regional instruments, like Scottish bagpipes, Tibetan chimes, and an Australian didgeridoo will delight kids as tunes are woven among stories and myths. Monday, January 1

• Greet the new day, and the new year with a dawn hike hosted by the Southampton Trails Preservation Society. Watch the sun rise from the ocean, then hike four miles through Camp Hero. Meet at the state park parking lot at 7 a.m. Call Tony Garro at 725-5861 to learn more.
