Of Burglars and Burglary

Wayne Conklin, 35, of Hampton Bays was charged with burglary second degree after Southampton Town Police arrested him on November 7 in Hampton Bays. Police allege Conklin burglarized a home on Montauk Highway in Hampton Bays on October 24, removing copper piping from the residence. Caleb Erden-Christiansen, 17, of East Quogue was charged with burglary second after he was allegedly caught trying to gain entry into a home on Jones Rd. in East Quogue on Sunday.

Jerome Bennett, 35, of Southampton was charged with burglary third degree, criminal possession of stolen property fourth and criminal possession of a weapon fourth last Wednesday for allegedly stealing a rifle, a shotgun and swords from a home on David Whites Lane in Southampton on November 4. Police say witnesses saw him loading the weapons into his car. Roland Eisenberg, 58, of East Hampton was arrested for burglary second for allegedly burglarizing a home on Abraham's Path last Wednesday.

In Springs, someone with a penchant for stolen sporting goods walked off with six offshore fishing rods worth $6000, a $1500 set of golf clubs, and two hunting bows valued at $1800 from a home on Old Stone Hwy. In Sag Harbor, a $5500 trailer was carted away from Denise St. sometime between November 5 and last Friday. A $3000 mower was illegally moseyed away from a home on Aspautuck Ln. in Westhampton on Saturday. A check kiter used a stolen check to make a $2000 withdrawal from the bank account of a Patrick St., Westhampton Beach victim. Someone is sitting pretty on some stolen furniture after a $5000 sofa, two chairs valued at $6000 and a $3000 lounge chair were lifted from a home on Peconic Bay Ave. in North Sea sometime between last Friday and Saturday.

DWI Arrests and An Assault

A student at Hampton Bays High School was assaulted by five men while he was walking along Ponquogue Ave. in Hampton Bays last Thursday. Police say the men used racial slurs, provoking a fight that left the victim with a broken nose and facial bruises.

Southampton Town Police report five DWI arrests, two in Hampton Bays, one in East Quogue, one in Flanders and one in Westhampton Beach. East Hampton Town Police report one DWI arrest, on Route 114 in East Hampton on November 4.

In other driving-related crime, a 28-year-old Hampton Bays man was pulled in on criminal possession of a weapon and aggravated unlicensed of a vehicle charges after being pulled over for a traffic infraction on Montauk Highway in Hampton Bays.

A Clarification

In last week's issue, we reported Paul Moschetta, 49, was arrested for DWI and aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle on Three Mile Harbor Rd. on October 31. The Paul Moschetta in question is not Dr. Paul Moschetta, DSW, whose practice is on 97 Pantigo Rd. East Hampton.
