The Southampton Mariners will travel to East Hampton Saturday at 1 p.m. to participate in the historic battle for the Hampton Cup, a rivalry game that dates back to the 1920s. The last time that the two schools played each other was in the fall of 1992. The Bonackers struggled at times this season, going 1-7 in Division III although their solid defensive play kept many of the scores close. Southampton finished 4-4 in Division IV. The two teams last met in the fall of 1992.
"It's a big thing for us," said Dave MacGarva, Bonac's coach. "It's going to be jam-packed and both communities want to see this game happen. [Southampton] is a good team and they're explosive on offense. It should be a good game."
