Networking Luncheon

The Riverhead Chamber of Commerce will host its end-of-the-year Networking Luncheon at Calverton Links tomorrow beginning at 11:30 a.m. The buffet lunch begins at noon; Suffolk County Legislator Edward Romaine will be the guest speaker. Tickets are $25 for Chamber members, $30 for non-members; call 727-7600.

Self Defense Seminar

Bob Martin, a 32-year veteran of the NYPD, will lead a self defense seminar at Gurney's Inn in Montauk tonight at 6 p.m. Learn about safety at home, in your car and while traveling. The event is geared towards women, but all are welcome. The event is free; call 668-2345 for more information.

So The World May Hear

Dave Carr, the CEO of McGuire's Hearing Aids participated in a "So The World May Hear" mission held at Metro Ministries in Brooklyn in September. The missions, sponsored by the Starkey Hearing Foundation, bring new, free hearing aids to the needy, hearing-impaired populations. Since its inception in 1973, the foundation has helped provide 155,000 people with hearing aids. Carr, whose business has branches in Riverhead, Southampton, Greenport and Patchogue, has participated in other missions in China and Mexico.

Members of the Parrish Art Museum's Business Council are invited to the museum's annual Get Connected! networking event on Friday from 6 to

Spiritual Pep Talk & Car Raffle

At a recent "Spirit of Community" luncheon at Stonewall's restaurant, would-be volunteers to the Peconic Bay Medical Center received an inspirational pep talk from Father James C. Vlaun, President and CEO of Telecare, the Diocese of Rockville Centre's television station. The speech was sponsored by the PBMC's Auxiliary, whose members volunteer more than 20,000 hours per year. Anyone interested in becoming a PBMC volunteer can contact Lynne LaGrua at 548-6021.

PBMC is also sponsoring its "Great East End Car Raffle," with the drawing to be held at PBMC's Candlelight Ball at The Inn at East Wind in Wading River on January 27. The Grand Prize is the winner's choice of $15,000 or one of seven 2007 vehicles. First prize is $3000 and second is $1500. Raffle tickets are $100 each or three for $200; for more information, call 548-6080.

Winter's Here

Arline's Ski & Snowboard Shop is sponsoring their first ski trip of the season on December 10, to Stratton, VT. Tickets are $85 per person for the trip and lift ticket; rentals are available for $30.
