"It was a tough game. We basically came from behind and were playing catch-up the whole time," said Sharks player Gordon Trotter. Trotter and his Montauk Rugby teammates suffered their first loss of the 2006 fall season on Saturday to a skilled Union team at Herrick Park, 23-19.

"It was a top of the table clash. Both teams were undefeated and the winner will likely win the Metropolitan Championship," Trotter said. "We were down two scores early, but we nearly won the game at the end."

Montauk had three successful tries including one each by Ryan Borowski and Mike Jablonski.

The Sharks (4-1) host Monmouth this Saturday at 1 p.m. and finish the regular season at home against Princeton on October 28.
