Days of Beauty

Primp for a good cause as part of the "Days of Beauty," a benefit for the North Fork Breast Health Coalition, to be held at the Robert James Salon & Spa, 28 Main St., Riverhead, this Saturday and Sunday. New President at Southampton

Robert S. Chaloner will be the new president and CEO of Southampton Hospital, effective December 11. Chaloner most recently served as the president and CEO of Cabrini Medical Center in Manhattan. He replaces John Kastanis. "Robert Chaloner understands the many challenges facing community hospitals and his experience in this unique area makes him particularly qualified to guide Southampton Hospital," said Peter Larsen, hospital board chair.

Extending Their Credit

Suffolk Federal Credit Union has opened a new branch in Riverhead; there will be a grand opening on Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with refreshments, give-a-ways and a raffle for a $1500 shopping spree. Grant for Cardiac Unit at PBMC

The Peconic Bay Medical Center has received a $70,000 grant from the state for new cardiac monitors to provide uninterrupted information about a patient's heart at the bedside and the nurse's station. "Cardiac disease is one of the more serious illnesses that we deal with every day," said PBMC President and CEO Andrew Mitchell. "It's of particular concern on the East End, which has an ever-increasing population of people 55 and over, the portion of the population at greatest risk for heart disease."

A Life Line for the East End

Life Line Screening Radiology will offer stroke screenings at the First Methodist Church of East Hampton, 35 Pantigo Rd., at 9 a.m. next Tuesday. Ultrasound technology is used to check for potential heart problems related to blocked arteries, hardening of the arteries and aneurysms. The cost is $109 for a complete vascular screening, $139 for a vascular and osteoporosis screening. Call (877) 237-1344 to schedule an appointment; pre-registration is required.
