Montauk Rugby Climbs To 4-0
The Montauk Rugby Football Club improved its fall season record to 4-0 on Saturday with a well-contested 20-5 win over Morris (New Jersey) at Herrick Park. The first place Sharks held a 7-0 lead at the half before pouring on the offense in the second half, highlighted by Andy Reilly's try in the near corner that soared through the uprights to put the game out of reach for Morris.
Although there was no referee available for the game due to an officiating shortage, Montauk's Garth Wakeford graciously volunteered to officiate the match. The Sharks' next game will take place on October 14 when they host Union at Herrick Park at 1 p.m.
Montauk finishes out its regular season with home games against both Monmouth (October 21) and Princeton (October 28) before beginning its postseason quest to the championship.
