Weapons Charges

Tobias Brown, 26, of Flanders was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third and fourth degrees and criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal possession of a weapon third after cops responded to a call that he was allegedly menacing his brother with a kitchen knife at a home on Woodroad Trail in Flanders last Thursday. Cops say they found a .32 caliber handgun and a large quantity of cocaine.

A 34-year-old Holtsville man faces criminal possession of a controlled substance seventh and criminal possession of marijuana charges after he was stopped for a seatbelt violation on Longview Rd. in Southampton last Wednesday. Police allege two ounces of marijuana and cocaine were found in his car.

The Big Steel

More than $50,000 worth of paintings were stolen from a Bennett Dr., East Quogue residence last Friday. Police have a suspect. A must-have for every true fan of steel reinforced bars, a rebar bending machine, was stolen from a construction company on County Rd. 39 in Southampton on September 25. Said rebar bender is valued at $30,000. A $1000 computer and a $300 television were stolen from a Romana Dr., Hampton Bays residence last Thursday. The thief entered through the kitchen door.

Southampton Police arrested Frank Belson, 17, of Flanders and Chris Miller, 27, East Quogue and charged them with grand larceny fourth and criminal possession of stolen property fourth, both E felonies, for using an ATM card stolen from an East Quogue home. Belson was also charged with criminal mischief third.

Drinking Drivers

Southampton police report four DWI arrests this week. On Sunday, a Riverhead man, 23, faced DWI charges after cops stopped him for multiple V&T violations on Route 24 in Riverside. A 19-year-old Quiogue man struck a house while driving intoxicated and was arrested on Montauk Hwy. in Quiogue. A Sag Harbor man, 36, was charged with DWI after he failed to stop at a stop sign on Mitchell's Lane in Bridgehampton last Friday; the same day, a 64-year-old Columbus, Ohio resident was pulled in for intoxicated motoring on Millstone Rd. in Noyac after being stopped for a traffic violation.

Further east, town police in East Hampton charged four motorists with DWI. On Sunday, a 22-year-old East Hampton woman was stopped after she nearly struck a police car while driving on Hog Creek Rd. in East Hampton. On September 25, police arrested an East Hampton man, 32, with DWI after he was involved in an accident on 3 Mile Harbor Rd; the same day a 22-year-old East Hampton man faced DWI charges after he was involved in a MVA on Abrahams Path in Amagansett. On September 23, a soused speeder was stopped on Delrey Rd. in Montauk.

In Southold, a 32-year-old Southold man wore the silver braacelets after he was found in an intoxicated condition in a vehicle on Cat Alley in Southold early Saturday morning; that evening, Southold coppers arrested a 26-year-old Centereach man for DWI after he failed to use the designated lane on Rte. 25 in East Marion.
