Montauk Rugby Improves to 2-0

The Montauk Rugby Football Club improved its fall season record to 2-0 on Saturday with a well played 31-20 victory at host Rockaway. The Montauk Sharks tries were scored by Steve Turza, Thomas Clark, Gordon Trotter and Ryan Borowsky.

"It was hot, but four tries to two we'll take," said team captain Garth Wakeford. "We have three new players on the team, but they're learning fast."

Montauk next plays on Saturday at the Village Lions in Manhattan before returning to Montauk for the Sharks first home game on September 30 at Herrick Park where they'll host team Morris from New Jersey.

Montauk also will play home games on October 14 (vs. Union), October 21 (vs. Monmouth) and October 28 (vs. Princeton).

Wakeford also wanted any interested players to know that the team practices at Herrick Park every Tuesday and Thursday beginning at 7 p.m.
