Bonackers Lose to Miller Place

The East Hampton varsity football team slipped to 0-2 in the Suffolk County League III standings after suffering a 31-7 loss at Miller Place on Saturday afternoon. The Panthers, who finished 3-5 last season, held the Bonackers offense in check throughout the game, limiting East Hampton to a total of 50 yards.

Zach Bounaito led Miller Place with a game-high 11 tackles and the Panthers intercepted the ball twice. East Hampton trailed 14-0 at halftime before the Panthers (1-1 in Division III) broke the game open by outscoring the Bonackers 10-0 in the third quarter.

It doesn't get much easier for East Hampton this week as the Bonackers host the #5 ranked 2-0 Islip Buccaneers tomorrow at 3:30 p.m. at East Hampton High School. East Hampton has scored only one touchdown in its last two games and the Bonackers will have to produce better if they hope to compete with an Islip team that has averaged 34 points scored this season.

The Buccaneers defeated #3 ranked Sayville on Saturday 28-27 as starting quarterback Tom Butler passed for 221 yards and three touchdowns against a very good Golden Flashes (1-1) defense.
