Seal Count

The Riverhead Foundation for Marine Research and Preservation is recruiting volunteers to participate in seal counts on Long Island. The Foundation will give a training session on marine mammals, with a focus on seals, at the Sag Harbor Whaling and Historical Museum tomorrow at 7 p.m. Participants will be given information on local species and how to help preserve these animals and their environment. Healthcare Symposium

The East Hampton Healthcare foundation will hold a symposium on cardiology on September 30 in the East Hampton Village Emergency Services Building. There will be presentations about prevention of atherosclerosis, new cardiovascular diagnostic technology, and new cardiovascular therapy. There will also be audience Q&As. The event is free, but seating is limited; call 324-8943 to register.

Businessman Honored

David J. Lee of Sag Harbor has been selected to receive the Congressional Medal of Distinction for his support of the Republican Party, his leadership in business and contribution to the local economy. "Mr. Lee has served as an Honorary Chairman of the Business Advisory Council and has provided much needed support. This award could not have gone to a more deserving candidate," said National Republican Congressional Committee Chairman Tom Reynolds.
