Hospice Volunteer Training
East End Hospice is offering a volunteer training program for caring men and women who are interested in becoming Hospice volunteers. East End Hospice provides care and comfort for all terminally ill patients, their families and loved ones on eastern Long Island. Volunteers are needed in all areas. The eight session training program will begin on October 5; pre-registration is required. News from The Retreat
The Retreat, a domestic violence service for women and families, had a busy first six months of 2006. A group of Springs school student participated in the Natural Helpers Program, raising $1500 for four Nassau and Suffolk shelters. The Hampton Bays Girl Scout Troop 68 created boxes of goodies for the children at the shelter for Valentine's Day, and Megan, a senior Girl Scout from the troop, performed many hours of community service at The Retreat to earn the Scout's highest award, The Gold Award.
