Long-Term Care Information
Cornell Cooperative Extension of Suffolk County has initiated the Long-term Care Insurance Education and Outreach Program to help with the difficult and often confusing issues surrounding long-term care insurance. Long-term care, which may be either in a nursing home or an individual's home, may also include adult day care, respite care and hospice care. The role of LTCIEOP is to help individuals make informed decisions regarding financial protection and choice of policy.
LTCIEOP offers training and technical assistance to staff and volunteers of the New York State Office for the Aging's Health Insurance Information Counseling and Assistance Program, which provides insurance information and counseling to Medicare recipients and families. A relationship has also been established with the New York State Partnership for Long-Term Care, which helps New York residents protect assets while remaining eligible for Medicaid.
LTCIEOP coordinator Cynthia Russell provides unbiased information in educational seminars and presentations in the workplace, libraries, civic associations and community organizations throughout Suffolk County. For more information, Mr. Russell may be reached at (631) 727-7850, ext. 325.
Cornell Cooperative Extension of Suffolk County is a non-profit educational agency dedicated to strengthening families and communities, enhancing and protecting the environment and fostering countywide economic development.
