Second Annual Hamptons Wine/Food Fest Second Annual Hamptons Wine/Food Fest Battle Of The Chefs To Happen + More

It seems that reality TV is here to stay. But if you're a fan of culinary-themed shows, it's even more fun to see two rising stars duking it out in the kitchen. Local boy Ralph Pagano will face off against Harold Dieterle August 12 as part of the upcoming Hamptons Wine and Food Festival to be held at the Ross School in East Hampton.

Pagano, a native of Sag Harbor and former chef at Bobby Van's restaurant was a recent finalist on Fox's "Hell's Kitchen," a show on which chefs were required to put together a gourmet meal under fire. Dieterle, who was named one of reality TV's "hottest bachelors" boasts a win in Bravo's "Top Chef" competition and took home the $100,000 prize for his efforts.

"He's gonna have to put down the mirror, roll up his sleeves and get down and dirty if he thinks he has a chance of winning this thing," said Pagano with a laugh. Countered Dieterle: "Ralph's clearly shaking in his shoes. He could pick up a few tips watching me!"

Additional talent has been tapped for the event's Hamptons Chef and Bartender Competition. This year, the chefs will team up with their favorite bartenders to create thematic drinks to complement the food. In addition, "grand tastings" will be held August 12 and 13 featuring many international and local wines and a full menu of signature dishes from top East End restaurants. A VIP party is also slated to happen August 11 at a private oceanfront estate in East Hampton. Sponsored by Level vodka, the event—dubbed "Tapas and Tinis"—will treat guests to Spanish-inspired small plate delicacies prepared by Pagano, the owner of Fat Ralph's in Sag Harbor. Flavored martinis will flow at the festival's kick-off party along with a Long Island wine bar and bubbly donated by Veuve Clicquot. Those attending will also enjoy live music by the pool and dancing barefoot on the beach to reggae, bossa nova, and sensational world music. Limited tickets are available for this event and the proceeds benefit the Steven J. Ross Scholarship Fund at Ross School.

The Hamptons Food and Wine Festival will take place August 11 through August 13. Call 613-3110 for tickets or, better yet, check out the HWFF's full schedule by visiting
