HIFF Embraces Southampton, The Indy

The 14th annual Hamptons International Film Festival will shine its spotlight on to Southampton for the upcoming festival, and The Independent will help guide the way. The festival, which runs from October 18-22, will be presenting its popular Spotlight Film program at United Artists Southampton theatre, and The Indy has once again been chosen to produce the official guide to the festival.

On October 18 through the 21st, UA Southampton will screen one of the festival's major new films; each showing will be followed by a party in Southampton. "This is a tremendous addition for us," said Denise Kasell, the executive director of the festival. "It's an honor that we've been so well received and it reflects our presence in the Southampton community."

The Independent, which produced the full-color guide for the 2005 festival, will once again guide festivalgoers through HIFF's wide array of offerings. "We're ecstatic to be associated with the Hamptons International Film Festival," said Rick Murphy, the editor-in-chief of The Independent. "The festival attracts a sophisticated crowd and we want them to enjoy the East End, enjoy the guide and enjoy our newspaper."

"We were thrilled with our partnership with The Independent last year, and we're looking forward to working with Jerry Della Femina and the newspaper again for the coming film festival," Kasell added.
