Celebrate Summer With The Shinnecock Nation

The Shinnecock Nation Cultural Center and Museum in Southampton will host its third annual Summer Fun Festival and Lobster Bake this Sunday from 1 to 6 p.m. Delphine Tsinaginnie, an award-winning Navajo recording artist, will present adaptations of traditional Native American songs. She will perform from 2 to 2:30 p.m. and from 4:30 to 5 p.m.

Additionally, the event will feature distinctive jewelry, beadwork, hand-carved stone and antlers. A Kidszone will entertain children four years of age and older with face painting, doll making and other recreational activities. Community members will prepare lobsters, clams, crabs, corn and potatoes in a traditional cooking pit with heated rocks for your enjoyment. Plates are available for $20 and admission to the event is free! The museum's permanent exhibitions include murals, photo galleries, cultural collections and bronze sculptures and are open for viewing.
