Flanders Pedestrian Struck by Chevy
Last Sunday, Southampton Town Police received a report that a male pedestrian had been hit while crossing Flanders Road. Police found the man lying unconscious in the roadway. An investigation revealed that a1992 Chevy Blazer, operated by a 58 year-old man from Douglaston, NY traveling Northbound on Flanders Road, struck the pedestrian, who has yet to be identified. The pedestrian walked directly in front of the car for an unknown reason. Speed was not considered a factor in the accident. The pedestrian was treated at the scene by Flanders/Northampton ambulance and was then flown to the University Hospital at Stony Brook where he is listed in critical condition. No charges have been filed against the motorist involved at this time, but the investigation continues. Anyone with information should call the Southampton Town Police at 728-3400 or the Crime Hotline at 728-3454. All calls will be kept confidential.
