Cardinale To Lead Colleagues
Riverhead Supervisor Phil Cardinale had been elected by his colleagues as vice chairman of the Suffolk County Supervisor's Association. It is a position previously held by former Southold Supervisor Josh Horton.
"I am pleased to serve and appreciate the request from my colleagues from the supervisor's association," said Cardinale.
Cardinale said he was particularly happy with his appointment since it means the East End will be well- represented. "We do reflect a different prospective," he said.
As the vice chair of SCSA, which represents 1.5 million residents, Cardinale has vowed to work hard to lobby the county, state, and federal governments on issues that towns find consequential.
For example, Cardinale says he and other supervisors are attempting to convince the Suffolk County legislature that a portion of money it collects from sales tax in the county should be distributed to the ten town governments. Other issues the organization is working on are school tax funding and formula reform.
