East Hampton Golfers Take Conference Title

The East Hampton boys' golf team took 10th place on Monday afternoon in the Suffolk County tournament held at Riverhead's Indian Island Golf Course. Bonac was the top finisher from Conference IV.

The Bonackers top golfer was Jeremy Wells, who shot an 84 while Zach Grossman, a seventh-grader, fired an 86. "I was very pleased with their scores, but the play of eighth grader Garner Minetree and freshman John McGuirk [who both shot 89], really helped us win it," said Claude Beudert, now in his 19th season as East Hampton's boys' golf coach "It was such a really good score, considering the conditions yesterday. They have both worked hard on their games and they both have such a passion for the sport. It sets a good tone for our future and we have some more promising junior varsity kids that will contribute next season."

Mike Graham and Rob Wooding, both seniors, also played well. "We couldn't have done it without them," Beudert said. "It's nice to be recognized, a little more and the kids are definitely feeling this. They know that the banner is going up on the wall. We had a very successful season (East Hampton went 9-1 in the fall to finish in a tie for the League VIII title) and it was a great final experience for the seniors and for the younger golfers. It was a really good day."
